With each and every bank urging its customers to make use of credit cards, it has been noted that people have started growing extremely wary of it. Most of the financial institutions which are seen trying to urge their customers to make use of plastic money do so because they have their own financial interest hidden behind it.

Shopping on credit card can prove to be extremely costly to an individual if the interest charges applied on the credit card by the bank are extremely high. This is the reason why, in a bid to promote use of credit cards, various banks have announced interesting schemes. The most common one among these are the credit card rewards. The credit card rewards program could actually work in favor of the users provided they are careful enough in choosing the right scheme.

The only pre-requisite for an individual is to have an adequate bank balance so that they can qualify for a credit card rewards program. After qualifying, the credit card holders can carefully choose their own reward schemes, which are best suited to their interests.

Various card companies offer student credit cards to high school and college going students, since students in this age group are reported to constitute a major part of the total shoppers. The motive of various banks to provide student credit cards at subsidized interest rates is that since these students will be indulging in shopping at some point of the time or other, they will definitely make use of the credit card rewards, thus bringing profit both for themselves in the form of better savings and to the financial institution as well.

Card companies, such as American express credit cards have offered some lucrative credit card rewards to their existing and new clients, where the client gets entitled for heavy discounts at selected purchases and lower interest charges. Some of the well-established banks in the world, such as American express credit cards provide their customers with genuine credit card schemes, which are actually meant to benefit the customer and they have no hidden costs. Most of the schemes which are announced by banks generally have a list of terms and conditions attached with them which help them to manipulate a customer later. However, it is the onus of an individual that he or she cross-checks and verifies all the terms and conditions along with the reward scheme which may not present the scheme as rosy as it is made out to be by the bank employees.
